There is a toxic view in the spiritual community, in the self help community and also in most religions. It is is that we all must endure suffering, when we can in fact escape from it and we are in control of our lives. Theses ideas are so toxic since it justifies the fact that we need to suffer to be considered, 'pure, 'good' and spiritual. That is not true, when we endure suffering we are hurting ourselves more, we are causing ourselves more harm, a lot of emotional and mental harm to ourselves and others. The belief that God has some devene plan and that we should expereince pain is a negative and oxic idea, it is emotional abuse. Since the idea does not support or comfort a person who is suffering, theses sayings only invalidate a persons emotions and cause them to become numb. It becomes a coping mechanism, we begin rely on this saying to justify our actions and the justify why we should be in suffering. In today's clarity blog we will be heavily criticizing this view point.

Whatever you believe in, wether that there is a God, or no god. Whatever it is, we all recognize and admit that life should be lived to the fullest, we must have an good expereince in life since that is what gives life meaning. Tobe happy and what we unconsciously aspire to. However, the saying 'suffering is life's greatest teacher' is a complete contradiction. Since it is saying that life should be lived in accordance to curcumstance, it prevents you going towards what you want and living a fulfilled and happy life. The saying is essentially saying that, suffering is good. Consider approaching a young child, who has been put under the foster system since they were neglected by their parents, and tell that child that 'suffering is life's greatest teacher' and that 'God has some divine plan, and what happened was a part of that pain',. That i an abusive thing to say, that child will learn that suffering is a good thing, so that child may endure all sorts of horrible things and let himself be treated poorly. That child, will develop a lack of love for itself, thinking that suffering is what makes him holy, what makes him good. Thats abusive on all levels.

When first hearing that saying, it causes a persons emotions and feeling to no longer become vald. For it almost numbs out everything, and causes a sense of inner silence and reflection. Which can be mistaken for peace since the turmoil of emotions have been stopped. However, that is not true. Your only ignoring emotions which are valid, and deserve to be listened to. It is shutting down that inner compass, permanently and casing a person to feel lost in life since that has been diminished. It goes against your intuition, one of the most valuable tools in life.
