The old saying ‘Ignorance is bliss’ is commonly heard all the time. But is it true? To what extent is ignorance truly bliss? Why can we not find bliss when being informed about something? And these are question’s we don’t hear when we first hear the saying, we kind of accept it as a fact. That we should not be aware or informed about difficult things since we are emotionally better off without having to have that information in our minds. Which to some extent is a perfectly understandable thing to say. But with knowledge there is power and an opportunity to interpret and act on that information. In today’s clarity blog, we be trying to change your perceptive again and discover why no matter how tough information can be to swallow, it’s worth it for multiple different reasons.

In our personal lives, hearing bad information or something rather worrying can be hard to swallow. Since it’s better to have been oblivious to the truth and to have continued happily. This applies for things such as learning that you’re of a high risk of contracting a curtain form of cancer. Or that you have come to realisation that bad people who do terrible things are still able to gain power and authority, when school taught you offer wise. Both of examples can hit you hard, you feel as though you are being wrongly convinced that the world and your own body is on your side, that you are fine. Then told that everything you thought you knew was wrong, and the comfort blanket which you relied open doesn’t even exist. The reality is that in your mind it does not matter whether something is true or untrue, it’s the mentality you have and the thoughts you have which is that ‘support blanket’ you have. And that ‘support blanket’ of trust and positivity does not have to go when learning the truth. In fact, we can adapt it to the truth. For instance, you realise that you’re of a high risk of developing cancer, that person who has discovered that is able to adapt their mind set around it. They realise that the world is a good place, because you are more thankful to be alive. That there is a network of medical support if that does take place and that you are strong enough to face it. You’re not going to a burden If you fall sick, because there is outside support. See how when these statements are written with optimism, and it’s that optimism which is going to re-build that support blanket. Since your changing your perspective and turning it into something meaningful.
When it comes to knowledge, learning about a negative historical event or something which is taking place and should not be. It often can be distressing to learn about it, and you really don’t want to hear about these horrific truths. But yet again with knowledge there is power, and an opportunity to be more educated. For instance, hearing about the holocaust at age of 7 and feeling really bad and that you would rather not hear about it. And it is distressing. But think of the future you are guarantying by being aware of it. Humanity has learned from these events, it has encouraged new laws and an understanding on how discrimination can lead to genocides. Which is wrong. By learning about these event you have gained a perspective you did not once understand. At a young age you’re going to discover what’s wrong and right, and the fact that the child is distressed is showing a good sign, that there is empathy and you as an adult understand that it’s wrong to discriminate. Learning tough knowledge or events is difficult, but remembrance guarantees that we are better than that. Picture a world where everything bad and catastrophic which ever took place was tucked under the rug because we were afraid of offers reactions. The world will be very different places, we will continue commit these acts and never be educated to the effects of these events on people lives, suffering will become the norm

Ignorance is not bliss, because bliss is a mentality and a mind-set not a truth. Bliss is something that we take for granted and don’t understand, and knowledge itself can create its own bliss. Without that tough and unbearable knowledge, we will not understand have the mind-sets and the strength we require to create our own bliss. The idea of bliss will not exist at all. And the power of knowledge will never be appreciating, knowledge lends us such an amazing perspective to understand what it means to live a better life and how we can change and grow from it.
